Here at JVA, we have a wide variety of teachers and staff to ensure every student’s needs are met. One of these amazing staff members is Ms. Broberg, our Social Emotional Learning Specialist! She is a vital member of the JVA team as she makes sure all students are doing okay in and out of school and is there to help anyone who needs it. She’s had other jobs at other schools, but she loves her role here at JVA especially, so now it’s time to get to know more about her!
First of all, Ms. Broberg loves dancing! Growing up, she did musical theatre and ballet “for about 12 years and fun fact, was in the Nutcracker” a couple years in a row. She also “toured with a ballet company in high school to bring arts to small communities in Nebraska and Iowa”. Now as an adult, Ms. Broberg does Indian dancing.
When asked what she enjoys most about dancing, Ms. Broberg says she most enjoys things that are the foundation, as they can be calming and become muscle memory. There is another thing she really enjoys about dancing: “I also LOVE performing! I love being on stage with others and getting to show a very different side of myself.”
As well as dancing, Ms. Broberg enjoys travelling both in Colorado and across the world. She says, “[my] top places to travel are too many to name! My daughter and I usually spend a month to six weeks in Mexico every year, so we clearly love that. We also just did a huge trip to India over winter break.” She loves road trips as well, travelling anywhere that gets her into nature or involved in another unique culture. Additionally, she believes that her travel experience is “one of the best ways to build empathy and learn about other perspectives” as a Social Emotional Learning Specialist, and that “[her] early years of traveling were foundational to who [she] became as an adult, educator and parent.”
Other than having an impressive dancing resume and visiting breathtaking locations, Ms. Broberg mostly spends time with family and friends outside of school, and she also enjoys cooking and paddle boarding. Thank you again to Ms. Broberg for her time, and we’re incredibly grateful to have such an amazing and talented staff member at JVA.
