Warhammer is a tabletop fighting game, full of minifigures, lore, and rules. I got into Warhammer a few months ago due to one of my favorite people playing it. There is so much appeal for Warhammer that I believe truly anyone could get into it. There are books of lore, armies for every style, and a lot of rules. The best part is you can play with your friends.
First step, if you’re interested in Warhammer, is to save up. Although Warhammer is loads of fun, the figurines and books can be quite expensive. Second, the more fun part, is choosing your faction. There are 5 main games. My personal favorite is Age of Sigmar, which takes place in a world where heroes, gods, and monsters fight for power. There are countless species and peoples. I would suggest this game for those into high fantasy. The second game is Warhammer 40k, a world where human settlers try their best to survive against alien species and different planets! Highly recommend for those into sci-fi! The next game is highly connected to 40k. The Horus Heresy takes place in the same world as 40k, but 10,000 years before! The last two games are Middle-earth and The Old World. Middle-earth is based on The Lord Of The Rings, while the Old World is a violent and dark fantasy world.
The next step is choosing your individual army. Each faction is full of many different armies that fit the theme. Each army has different advantages and disadvantages. You can choose based on the army’s lore, looks, or stats. Once you have acquired your army (this will take some time, as you can build it up with small kits of 1-2 figures or buy a spearhead/combat control that will give you all you need), you may start assembling and painting! I love to assemble my figurines as it is similar to LEGO. Each piece fits perfectly with the next to create a detailed figure. For paints, I personally love Citadel paints for bases, contrast paints, shades, etc., etc.! If you’re looking for fun irrediesnt colors, Turbo Dork is another great brand. Keep in mind, the paint pots may look tiny, but they do not go fast. You will not need very much paint for each figure. One last recommendation when painting is to prime your figures; this allows the paint to stick and stand out.
With all this information, you may now go out into the world and build your army! I wish you luck and hope this article has helped you find the perfect faction, army, and paints for you.
