Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

This week I tried Mallory’s Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Banana Bread for the first time, and it instantly became a favorite. The recipe is known for its rich, nutty flavor thanks to browned butter and its incredibly moist texture from overripe bananas. A full cup of chocolate chips melts throughout the loaf, giving it a bakery‑style finish that feels indulgent without being complicated. With simple steps and reliable results, it’s no surprise this recipe has become a standout among home bakers.
Ingredients:
- ½ cup unsalted butter, browned
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 3 overripe bananas, mashed
- 1 egg
- 2–4 tbsp milk (only if batter is too thick)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all‑purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 cup semi‑sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
– Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare a 9×5 loaf pan.
– Brown the butter in a saucepan until golden and nutty, then let it cool.
– Mash the bananas in a large bowl.
– Add the cooled brown butter, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla; whisk to combine.
– In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
– Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Add milk only if the batter is too thick.
– Stir in the chocolate chips.
– Pour into the loaf pan, top with extra chips, and bake 55–65 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
– Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a rack to finish cooling.
