At just 13 years old, Myra E., an 8th-grade student at JVA, is bringing mythology to life through her latest book. With a passion for storytelling and a fascination with gods from Greek, Roman, Egyptian, and Norse mythology, Myra has created a world where divine legacies shape the destiny of a young hero.
When asked what inspired her to start writing this book, Myra shared that the idea struck her randomly — what if gods from different mythologies passed down their legacies to one child? That thought quickly evolved into an epic and unique story filled with adventure, identity, and unity.
Currently working on the fourth chapter of her book “The Legacy of the Gods”, Myra’s protagonist is just discovering her identity as a demigod and is starting to begin her journey to a place where she will learn what it means to carry such a powerful image. Without giving too much away, Myra describes this chapter as a turning point, where the main character steps into the unknown and begins to embrace her fate.
Beyond action and mythology, Myra’s story carries a deeper theme and message by saying “Not everyone is the same, but we need to remain together.” Through her characters and their struggles and challenges faced, she hopes to show that differences should be embraced, and unity is key, even in a world of gods and legends.
Myra’s protagonist is more than just a hero. Myra is an artist who expresses herself through drawing. Inspired by a specific pose Myra once saw, this character developed as a fierce, feisty and protective figure in the story, full of stubbornness, determination and raw power.
Like many writers, Myra faces challenges with motivation. She admits that she often finds herself going back and reworking on parts of her story, sometimes forgetting her initial drive. However, she always reminds herself why she started this journey in the first place, to tell a story that she truly loves.
While Myra has started writing six other books, this specific one is the furthest she has ever gotten. Though she hasn’t publicly published any of her stories yet, she dreams of sharing this book with the world.
Myra gives credit to Shannon Messenger, author of “Keeper of the Lost Cities” and “Sky Fall”, for influencing both her personality and writing style. She also finds inspiration in Rick Riordan, the mastermind behind “Percy Jackson”, whose work shares a very similar love and passion for mythology.
As for what comes next, Myra is still currently figuring out her path to publishing but remains dedicated to finishing her book. Whether self-published or traditionally published, one thing remains clear, her story is worth telling.
Keep an eye out for Myra E.’s upcoming book, you may just find yourself on an unforgettable mythological adventure!
