Denver, CO – Let me tell you, it was a tough night to be a Nuggets fan. Denver took a 133-104 beating at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves, and frankly, it was just sad. Anthony Edwards was the definition of electric tonight. He lit up the scoreboard for 34 points, and it felt like watching a kid play with his food.
Denver on the other hand? They looked flat and tired. Jokic tried to set the tone early with some crafty post work and some beautiful jumpers, but Minnesota’s defense began to swarm him and the rest of the Nuggets were no help. The Wolves made it their entire mission this game to cut off his passing lanes, which forced the rest of the Nuggets into tough shots and many sloppy turnovers. Jamal Murray, who has been very reliable recently, had what some would call a “rough outing,” shooting only 4-of-14 from the field, and the “supporting cast” like MPJ and AG never found their rhythm.
The Nuggets have some soul-searching to do before they face the Chicago Bulls on Monday in Chicago. Let’s be honest as fans, road games are never easy, but the lack of energy and execution in Minneapolis was extremely concerning, considering that they have fewer assets than in the playoffs before. Hopefully, they regroup quickly to maintain their position as contenders in the West, but it is not looking great as of now.
